Adding a restricted subsite

Suzanne

I have tried to understand the instructions on how to create a subsite on my
site that has restricted access, but I am just not getting it. Can someone
please help me? I have a non-profit organization's website and I would like
to have a BOARD MEMBER ONLY subsite where the board members have access to
forms, reports, and messages that the GP does not have. I appreciate your
time.

YOu have to make sure your host allows for the creation of subwebs/sites and
allows unique permissions. Being able to do it will make understanding it
easier :)

When I asked my host, here is the answer I received.

Password Protect Web Pages
This option is not available for Web sites that use Microsoft®
FrontPage® server extensions, because FrontPage itself must manage all
the users and passwords for FrontPage sites.

To create password-protected areas, you can use FrontPage to create a
subweb with anonymous browsing disabled, then create users and
passwords within FrontPage. See your FrontPage manual for more
details.
