Adding actual hours when I extend duration

G

Greg Horodeck

Situation: fixed duration task, several resources assigned to the task, one
is finished, the rest have remaining hours.

When I extend the duration, the resources that are not complete have their
remaining hours incremented while the resource that was complete has their
actual hours incremented, remaining hours remains zero.

I would expect that all resources should have their remaining hours
incremented and that the actual hours would not be affected.

Can anyone explain the rationale behind this behavior?

Greg:

Completely normal behavior because the one resource is 100% complete,
extending the duration for that resource adds actual work rather than
remaining work unless you take control of all of the assignment parameters.
In a task view such as the Gantt chart, click Window > Split. Select the
task and add the hours to the resources as necessary in the appropriate
window.
