Adding an additional column to the new project template

While connected to the server, I want to create a new Project. A pre
defined project comes up with pre defined columns. How do I change the
columns or add additional columns to the tempalte so that when a new project
is created, the columns appear in the new project?

Don't start with the blank project created by Project Professional 2007.
The template for the blank project applies the default Gantt Chart view with
the default Entry table (the table contains the columns you see). Instead,
ask your Project Server administrator to create a custom enterprise Table
that contains the columns you want to see, and then create a custom
enterprise View containing the new Table. After this, you can create a
project template and apply the new custom enterprise View, and then save it
as an enterprise project template in the Project Server 2007 database. Your
PM's can create their projects from this new enterprise project template,
and they will be able to immediately see the new View and Table. Hope this
helps.

If you want to change the columns that are displayed by default when a new
project is created you can edit Enterprise Global. This will create new
project files with this default view

Hope that help

Dave,

I must be doing something wrong. I changed the enterprise global to have a
few columns but when I open up a new project I do not see the columns. I do
see them when I open up Enterprise global. I will work on a Project Template
later.........I need some more requirments.

Hello Brad,

On the top menu Click on Views and select Enterprise Gantt Chart. This will
bring up the columns you created.

Dave,

Can I make the Enterprise Gant Chart the default View when creating a new
project?

D

Dave

Yes you can. Just make sure that the view is the one u have open when you
are saving Enterprise Global

I tried that. When I open the E Global, Yes, I see the extra columns.
However, When I open MSP2K Pro and do a file, new, blank Project, the view is
default to Gant, Not enterprise gant. How do I get the new blank project to
default to Enterprise Gant when opened?
