adding captions to a graphic/image - starting number

I'm working with drawings and inserting graphics, I've tried inserting
caption so that they're numbered. it works fine, but my question is, is it
possible to indicate the starting number for the captions in one document, so
that it follows the ones on a previous document, such as another chapter?
Something like what you can do when giving pages number or inserting a
reference. I hope there's something like that, although it may have to do
with editing a field, and I have no idea how that is done.

I'm working with Word2002, by the way.

Caption numbers are just SEQ fields, and yes, you can insert a switch to
start the numbering at a given number. See "Field codes: Seq (Sequence)
field" in Word's Help.
