Adding Editable Column to inbox Messages?

B

Brian

Truly it is even easier. I am looking to be able to TAG my messages and be
able to sort by that tag. I get hundreds of emails a day and it is daunting
to keep creating new folders then coping that email into that folder and then
keeping it organized from there.
I was able to add a column named "Project" to the list but is there a way to
be able to edit that column on a right click or double click basis? This way
I can type in a quick note that identifies this email relative to a specific
project and I can archive my emails with a simple sort and grab. Any insight
would be a major step forward. I have a feeling I am just using the wrong
word for the process which means I may never find the answer myself. Thanks

Solved:
First add a new Column with the general format you want. For me I used
"Project" since I would like to tag my emails with the actual project or some
other misc info to signify temporary. Then go to..
View>Arrange by>Current view>Customize current view>Other Settings>Column
Headings and Rows>"Check" Allow in cell editing

This will allow you to edit the field next to the emailwithout actually
opening the email. Now you can sort/filter and move today, tomorrow, or never
using these new tags. Unfortuantely I did not find this answer anywhere on
the microsoft site but on another site called lifehacker. I just read through
all the comments for a similar question and there the answer was. Thanks
again.

Indeed, it is easier: You may use Categories instead. That field is already
available for all of your folders, and you can create as many categories (or
tags) as you want.
