Adding FPE to a folder underwwwroot

Newbie here:

I've successfully up'ped a site to my Xp test bed, but I want to add
another web - NOT a sub web - into another folder under wwwroot. When
I try to publish it, FP complains that the extensions aren't installed
- but when publishing into the root - there is no problem.

What am I missing?

MS PWS, Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro only supports a single root web and unlimited subwebs.

So I need to make the second web a sub-web of the main eh?

Correct. Just create a folder for each web in your root web, then select and right click, then
choose convert to web / site.

I think the best approach is to creating all of your local webs as subwebs, and leaving the root web
empty.

FROM the server with FP 2000 on it?

I've got a "main/root" web, and want to import the already created
subweb.

I did it, but have absolutely no idea how I got it to work.

I created the folder within the rot web (via FP and on the HD NOT the
server) converted it to a sub-web, which at times FP complains that
there is not a web associated with it, but once it work, then I opened
that subweb and imported the other web into it - I think that's what I
did.

Can you tell what's up and what I SHOULD have done?

Once you have the subweb created locally, then you would open the subweb in FP and publish to the
server as:

http://www.domainname.com/subwebname

I've tried that, and by locally I assume you mean on this machine, not
the "XP Host", but it will not publish it. It (the xp host) tells me
that FP extensions aren't installed, yet if I publish to the "root",
all is well.

How did you create the subweb on the "XP Host" ?

How did you create the subweb on the "XP Host" ?

IF I remember correctly - will have to try to duplicate - I open the
"main web", then created a folder and changed it to a subweb, then
opened that and imported - from disk - the other web I'd already
created. I DO remember, that when I did the import (and this was
created in FP) that a lot of the background images did not import over
- had to manually copy them.

Going to blow off the web today or tomorrow and try again, to see what
and how I did it.
