adding functionality to resource usage overallocation

The OVERALLOCATION column becomes YES when tasks a resource is assigned
to overlap. The table text also becomes red in the Resource Sheet and
Resource Usage views.

I would like to identify resource allocation for an additional
scenario: when events a resource is assigned to do not occur in the
correct order. For example, there are three events which should happen
after one another:

Task 1 >> Task 2 >> Task 3
(although these are not linked by a predecessor relationship)

If the same resource is assigned to all 3 tasks and Tasks 2 occurs
after Task 3 (but does not overlap), is it possible to identify this as
a problem?

Thanks!

Hello straforel,

Microsoft Project cannot know that task 2 must precede task 3 unless
you tell it by creating a relationship between the tasks. That
being said, even if you do create the relationship between the
tasks, there is nothing in Project to prevent you from supplying
progress (tracking data) to task 3 before task 2.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your request -- but Project will never
replace the need for communication between the project manager and
the resources.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
