Adding Headers & Page Numbers in MS Word 2007

In an MS Word 2007 document, I am trying to add both a footer and page
numbers but when I add one, the other disappears! How can I show both the
footer and the page number at the bottom of the page? How do I keep one
from disappearing when I add the other?

Are you adding the page number in the footer (or header?) That is where
it belongs if you want it to appear on each page.

I suspect you are using the Building Blocks in the Footer and Page number
galleries on the Insert tab? If so, there are two ways you can do this:

1) Add the footer and place your insertion point where you want to add the
page number. Then click the Page Number gallery and use the building blocks
from "Current Position"

2) Add your page number and place your insertion point where you want to add
the footer. From the Footer gallery, right-click the thumbnail for the
building block you want to insert and then click "Insert at Current Document
Position".
