adding images and icons as masters to a stencil

hi,

how to add images (.gif, .bmp) and icon files (.ico) as masters to a
stencil..
i also need a programmatic approach to adding images and icons like this.

Also during testing i noticed something : when icon files are added.. the
file name gets appended to the image itself.
How to avoid this.
