Adding music to presentation, not slides

This may seem pretty simple, but I have not yet figured
out how to do this. How do I get a sound file to play
over a presentation in Powerpoint? I tried adding a sound
when viewing the slide master, but all that does is
restart the sound whenever I get to a new slide. I want
the sound to play (looping) behind the presentation, so
the slides have nothing to do with it. So far I've
figured out about 5 different ways to add a sound or
music file to an individual slide, but not a
presentation. I just want the music to play in the
background, and not restart at each and every slide.
