Adding one document to another

Dan

I have a client who, when printing a Word 2003 document, would like another
document to be automatically added as a last page if certain criteria
indicates to do so. The main document is linked to an Access 2003 database.
They also want the pages to then be appropriately numbered. Any suggestions
on how to do this? INCLUDETEXT maybe connected to an IF..Then..Else field?
Not sure about the numbering though. Thanks.

What might be your client's definition of "appropriately numbered?"

Sorry...should have defined that.

The main document is 9 pages. The additional document that might be added is
1 page in length.

So, the page numbering should be 1-9 or 1-10 accordingly.

An If field to test for your criteria.
The true text should include a manual page break followed by an IncludeText
field to bring in the document.
Page numbering should be set in the header or footer and include the
appropriate fields.

I placed the following code in my word document and it works (after a lot of
trial and error syntax wise):

{ IF { MERGEFIELD PBGC } = "True" "{ INCLUDETEXT "c:\\emjay\\Docname.doc" }"
" " }

However, I cannot figure out how to get a manual page break in the code as
you described. Can you provide some guidance? Thanks.

I have also discovered that when I edit the INCLUDETEXT code nothing happens.
I edited the code to add a different document but the original document is
added even though the code says otherwise!?

Put your insertion point before the first field marker for the IncludeText
field and press Ctrl-Enter. This puts the page break between your quotation
marks for your truetext.

Press F9 after you edit the field.

The page break works great. Thankyou. However, F9 has no effect on the edited
code. I'm still seeing the original document and not the one specified in the
code.

Fixed the F9 problem. There was one extra space at either end of the file
path string, outside of the quotes (two spaces instead of one). Removing the
extra space allowed the correct document to be added.

Thanks for your help!
