Adding One Resource to Pool Twice in Server 2007

Hi,

I am working in Project Server 2007 and now have the need to create new
resources using existing resources with an different rate. (due to two
separate overheads for each person). I am struggling to get it done as I get
an error message if I put in the resource with Windows Authentication telling
me that the account is already being used. That makes sense, but how do I
get this additional resource in the pool? These accounts won't be using the
system, and are only going to be used for costing, so should I put them in as
a generic resource? Is there some other way to get them in the system
without worrying about security etc...?

Appreciate your help. Thanks, debbie

If you need multiple rates for a resource, you do NOT need to add the
resource twice to the Enteprise Resource Pool. Instead, double-click the
name of the resource and then click the Costs tab. Select the B tab to set
an alternate cost rate for the resource. You can have up to five rates for
each resource. The rate on Cost Rate Table A is always the default rate
when a PM assigns the resource to a task. The PM can change the cost rate
to one of the four alternate rates by navigating to the Resource Usage view,
inserting the Cost Rate Table column temporarily, and setting the Cost Rate
Table value on each of the resource's task assignments. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much. That's something I wasn't aware of and it will help a great
deal. dt
