First thing is to be sure the images are rgb not cmyk.
Open in your image editor and check.

and then insert them and I have also expanded the margins
at the top of my page because that is where I want the
pictures. I don't think the pictures are bad files
because I have tried other pictures and they have not
worked either. They are showing up as blank boxes with
the X in them once I publish the page. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
