Adding Resources

I see that with the Enterprise Resource Pool you can add resources from
Active Directory. If you add a resource from AD, does that automatically add
them as a Project user, using a license?

If in fact it does not add them as a project user, how would they update any
tasks assigned to them?

I'm sorry if this is a very stupid question.

Thank you!

Your is not a stupid question, so thanks for being brave enough to ask. When
you add a new resource to the Enterprise Resource Pool using any method, the
system automatically creates a user account for that resource in Project Web
Access. Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

I need to know if I can change the default security group (Team Member) when
a user account is automatically created in Project Web Access.

Yes, after the system generates the new user account for each new resource
you create in the Enterprise Resource Pool, you can then navigate to PWA and
change the security Groups to which the user belongs. By default, Project
Server automatically adds all new resources in the Enterprise Resource Pool
to the Team Members group. From there, however, you can change the user
accounts to whatever Groups you wish. For example, if a resource is a
project manager, you can remove the user account from the Team Members group
and add it to the Project Managers group. Hope this helps.

Yes I know the security group for a user account can be changed after in
automatically goes to Team Member. I want user account to automatically go to
a different group by default and not Team Member. In other words, I do not
want to open PWA to move an account from Team Member every time I add a
resource.

If you use AD Synch, then you can do this. Know that other resource
attribution is still a manual process.
