I have a chart that looks like this

Dates (should be in the Y axis)
number ( 1,2 ,3 ect) in the x axis
cost (should be the second y axis)

using Excel 2002 - Scatter Chart - can this be done

Put Numbers in col A
Dates in B
Cost in C
Select A1:C20 (or what ever); make chart
Right click the Cost line in chart, open Format Data Series and look for
Secondary Axis

best wishes

Okay I follow everything as you said. When it got to the right clicking
the cost area it lost me a little but when ahead and did it anyone there
nothing there that says Format Data Series.
For some reason that's been missing from my Format menu as well. I
don't know what's the problem.

I tried this but the third data series I needed a different axis for is
overlaping my two other data series.... how can you keep them from
overlapping?

Just to make sure we are doing it right......do you go into the chart area,
put mouse on the bar seies you want as a second axis and left click to selct,
then do you leave your mouse in the same area and right click and should show
a menu with the first one being the "format data series"? Is this what you
are doing so far?

I don't know what I'm doing wrong is not coming out right
I highlighted everything- by the way my boss change it again.

X = number (1,2,3, ect)
Y = dates
Second Y = cost

When I highlight everything and click on Scatter Chart it only show
just dates and number. It doesn't give me an extra y column for me t
insert the second Y.

Thank for your hel

I did this and changed the scale but it still looks like a few of the bars
are overlapping, which I can still make it smaller, but is there anyway for
it to not overlap? and do you know how to but in a particular sequence?

first of all, you can't highlight everything, you should only select the line
or bar that is already plotted in the chart and right click it to see a menu
showing "format data series".... hopefully this will work for you......
