Adding "send file link by e-mail" "Sent To" menu

R

Rostislav

Right-clicking on any file in Windows Explorer or Desktop we have a Send To
menu which can be customized to have folder destination.
What I would like to have is an option in this menu to send a link to the
selected file by email. The file which is selected and right-clicked on is
located on the network file share or network drive so this has to be a link
to a network share.

Another option would be sending the same link to an online Windows Messenger
contact as an instant message.

I've unsuccessfuly tried to look for tips/plugins to solve this. This
feature would be really useful for collaboration in our office.

Did I come to the right place with this question? Is it possible to do? Can
anyone help me?

Thanks alot,

Ross

Will copy as link work? You'll need to paste... but there is a utility that
can copy file paths.
http://www.mainsoft.fr/freeware_en.htm - look for clipname.

Does anyone know how to further automate the link sending process???

Thanks again to Diane.

I'm not aware of any other apps that can do it - each app would need a
clipmate type program installed that could send the link to the program
window (instead of the clipboard) and not all apps (especially Windows IM)
have enough API exposed to do that. It's much easier to use File, Send to
within the app and call up the windows file explorer dialog then to invoke
the app from within windows explorer.
