Adding text to a Gantt Bar in MSP 2003

I am having trouble adding text to a Gantt Bar. I have followed the instructions closely, but I seem to missing a step somewhere. Please help. I would use this tool regularly.

One step left out of the sequence makes it work. Found it. ugh!
