Adding "?text" to end of hyperlink.

I was under the impression that you could add "?blablabla" to the end of a
hyperlink and it would have no effect unless the linked page asked for some
sort of parameter.

I've used this at times to let people know where their traffic comes from,
but someone just told me that it's not working (although when I test it, it
works fine). See http://www.lifewaychapel.com/awards.htm and see the link on
any of the award images. (Sorry it's a slow page.)

Is this a browser issue perhaps? What do you guys think?

Thanks, Victoria

Thanks. That makes sense.

Does anyone have any opinion of the value of doing this?

I am actually doing that on a site now, but it depends on your access to the
server stats in order to see it, unless you are using a server-side script
to capture and store it.

I could not find anyplace where it added anything on the end of a hyperlink.

Did you place your cursor over any of the award images and then look in the
browser's status bar?

Sorry, after reading Thomas's initial reply, I took them all out (for now at
least). It was too much work to figure out the actual page name of each url.
