Adding Travel Costs to Resources

How do you add variable costs like travel to specific
resources? For instance, I have certain resources with
per hour costs for labor. But I also want to add columns
that account for travel costs with values like $XXX/w for
flights, $XXX/d for hotels, $XX/d for rental car, etc.
Is there anyway to do this in Project 2002 Standard?

Those would be task level costs rather than resource type costs. The way I
usually do is put the total of such costs in the fixed cost field of the
Gantt chart's cost table. Since only one value fits there, I usually
suggest creating a worksheet in Excel and total up the various costs (air
fare, hotel, car, etc). Select the total and copy it to the clipboard.
Switch to the project and select the fixed cost cell of the task of
interest. Right click and choose Paste Special from the popup menu, pasting
text data as a link. This way you get an OLE link from the wpreadsheet and
updating the numbers there will also update the total in your project file.
