additional questions about email notifications

just wondering (from a non-techie) - is the notification
feature something that must be "turned on" during
installation of project server? also, do i need access to
the exchange server set this up or is knowing the settings
enough?

I would like to know this too. My techi 'thinks' that he has
installed it but still no emails appear...any advice?

The only thing you really need is the details (hosthame or IP address) of a
server capable of relaying SMTP mail. By default Exchange can do this, but
your exchange server might be set up in such a way as to not allow this.
You will need to check with your administrator.

If you have the details, you can fill them in in PWA, under

Admin --> Customize Microsoft Project Web Access --> Notifications and
reminders.
