Address book error

I get this error message when clicking the address book icon in Word:

Logon failed. You must logon to Microsoft Exchange to access your
address book. Error code: "Unspecified error"

I can find no reference to MS Exchange in the help files and a search on
MS.com brings up only exchange server. I can bring up the address book
via the start menu and the wab file is in the proper folder.
