addressing a female doctor & her husband

O

Ofer

Its depend on the relationship between the two of you.
If you never met her, and it formal, then start with Dr ...
If you know her very well, address her by her name, and try to ignore her
husband.

Whar is the propper way to address a female doctor and her husband?

Asking etiquette questions in a newsgroup devoted to computer technical
topics is probably not the best way to get your answer, since most computer
people are not known for their superior people skills.

However, it depends upon the situation and the audience. Since you posted
this question in the Microsoft Access database newsgroup, you may introduce
them to us as "Dr. and Mr. Smith." "Mr. and Dr. Smith" is fine with us,
too. The more important title is often used first for formal
correspondence.

If you are making introductions to a single person or a small group,
introduce junior to senior, youth to age, male to female -- whichever
criteria is the most important for the situation -- with the more important
title for the situation introduced first (since it's a couple being
introduced).

Since good manners are intended to make people feel comfortable together,
perhaps asking the husband and wife how they wish to be introduced is your
best bet, especially if they use different last names.
