Addressing Envelopes

A few days ago, I posted the following question on
microsoft.public.word.mail:

I'm using Vista Home Premium, Microsoft Office 2007 SP2, Outlook 2007 w/BCM.

I have to address one envelope per week, my expense report with receipts, to
be sent to the same person each week. Sounds easy enough, right?

In Word 2007: Mailings---->Envelopes---->in the Select Name dialog box for
the Delivery Address I click the Insert Address dropdown then under
Search:Address Book I click on Business Contacts and immediately Word
closes. If, instead, I leave the Select Name dialog box set for Contact and
choose a contact name and then click OK, Word immediately closes. I had
hopes that SP2 might correct the situation. No joy! I have to type the
address in the Delivery Address box each week. This is not a tragedy; just
annoying. Any thoughts?

Doug Robbins was kind enough to offer a work around that took care of the
immediate situation. It did not find the cause for the problem or suggest a
corrective action. Any thoughts?

Again TIA

Instead of fighting the Envelope Wizard, simply add a blank envelope (it
will be added to the open blank document as page 0, delete page 1 beneath),
address the envelope manually and then save it as a template.

Terry,

Thanks for your response. That's essentially the work-around suggested on
the other NG. I gather from your response that the Envelope Wizard has a
reputation for being problematic. Is there any "real solution" to the
problem? What happens if one does an uninstall/reinstall?

That is unlikely to do anything as user settings and registry settings, etc.
remain intact. Better to try the Office Diagnostics which will confirm that
Office is OK or not.

Terry,

Been there; done that and got the T-shirt. No problems found.

I had this problem also. Make sure your Outlook program is open when you
chose your contact.

I've tried it both ways. Doesn't make any difference.
