adjust width property drop-down form field microsoft word

I am creating a form in Word using form fields. I need the width of a
drop-down form field to be wider, but don't see a way to make that happen.
Is it possible? How? thanks!

You can type nonbreaking spaces (Ctrl+Shift+spacebar) at the ends of
the entries when you add them in the Properties dialog.

The width of a dropdown fits the contents. AFAIK you have no control over
it.

If you want to fix the position of other text around the dropdown the usual
way is to constrain the field within a table cell.
