Adjusting size of grouped objects

A

Amy

I have a logo that I created in Publisher. All the elements get grouped
together, but I want to be able to adjust the size. Shrinking it for some
documents and enlarging for others. I have played with the formatting
option, but my grouped objects do not stay the same general look and
proportion when adjusting size. So how do I get around this?? To be clearer,
I have text, graphic and shape in the logo. The shape is filled in, but when
resizing larger it doesn't stay in the same place. I hope someone
understands this. :)

I have tried the Lock Aspect Ratio, but no help.

Thanks,

Amy

1. Make sure your text is set for Best Fit.

2. Hold the shift key down when you scale it up or down.

Thanks for the reply. I set the text to Best Fit and grouped my items and
did hold down the shift key while resizing, but still no luck. I would be
more than happy to send you a publisher file with the logo so you might see
what I am doing wrong.

What happens when you re-size without the text box? You may have to resize the text
separately.

This logo has 4 text boxes (text box per line), an oval and a piece of
clipart. It seems that instead of growing larger together, it grows larger,
but apart. The spaces between the text boxes and the oval just separate. I
have tried everything I can and I have pulled pieces apart and it still does
the same thing.

Anyone willing to look at it?

Yep - send it to jpaules029 at suscom dot net.

Also, I'll need to know which version of Publisher you are using so I can
duplicate your efforts.

I was able to get Amy's logo to scale down. The problem seemed to have
stemmed from having four lines of text in four separate text boxes. Three of
them were overlapping to maintain a tight betwwen line spacing. I took those
three lines of text, put them into one text box, and changed the between
line space to .8sp. I had to change the size of the text box for the last
line of text. Before I did that it kept shrinking the font down really
small - before scaling.

After those things were changed, I regrouped everything and now it scales
down just fine. Amy was sent the file - and now we wait to hear from her. So
Amy - does it work for you?

I thought others might run into the same/similar circumstances. It's always
nice to be able to look something up in the archives and find a solution to
a problem we might be having now. :)
