Admin Projects and Tracking time

I have set up a administrative project so all of our resources can
acount for all of their time, be project or non-project related. Now
how can I view the total hours worked each week on each task (or
project). I need to allow our accounting people access to this view in
order to create reports and bill clients. Is there any way to do
this???

Hi Travis,
I can't answer your question but I have a related as I am
looking to do the same thing...did you set up your admin
project using MS Project Server or only using
Professional?

If you used Professional how did you link it to the plans
so it tracks accordingly?

Thanks,
Stephanie

On the web, under the Resources- Adjust actuals option I am able to see by
the selection criteria and filtering options based on what's desired (sort by
Project, Resource, etc) a report that can be exported to Excel.

I know about the resources adjust actuals on the web, however it takes
a while to load with all the other projects and we only need to see the
admin project, because we don't report time worked on the other
projects, just % complete. We are going to be using the admin project
to track all time and i want to be able to view just this project in a
central location, where i can view total hours worked on each task and
by each resource. Is there any way to do this???

Travis --

You might try the following steps:

1. Open the project in Microsoft Project Professional
2. Click View - Task Usage
3. Adjust the level of zoom for the timephased grid to Months Over Weeks

In the Table on the left side of the View, you will be able to see each task
and the resources assigned. In the timephased grid on the right, you will
be able to see he amount of hours submitted for the week. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the insight. I was leaning towards using that view, i just
wanted to try and view it using PWA. Could you give any insight on how
to create a report that shows just the admin project and the hours each
resource worked, using the reports? Thanks again for your help.

Do the following:

1. Open Microsoft Project and open the admin project
2. Click View - Reports
3. Double-click the Custom option
4. Select the Task Usage report and click the Copy button
5. Give your custom Report a new name
6. Replace the Work field with the Actual Work field in the Crosstabsection
of the dialog
7. Click OK and then click Close
8. Click Tools - Organizer - Reports
9. Copy the new Report to your Global.mpt file
10. Click the Close button

You can view and print this report at any time by clicking View - Reports -
Custom, selecting your new Report, and clicking the Print Preview button.
If everyone needs to use this Report, your Project Server administrator
should open your admin project and copy the new report to the Enterprise
Global file using Tools - Organizer. Hope this helps.
