Administrative Project

David

While task creating an administrative project for non-
project categories. I have to assign the whole enterprise
resource pool to every task on the project as we need to
track the time. It does not permit me to add all the
resources to the resource name for any task. Is there any
limitation on the no of resources for any task?

I am getting the following error message while adding more
resources:
"The Resource list is too long.
A resource list that contains more than 256 characters
cannot be edited or deleted or used on the To line of a
message.
Use the resource information dialog box to edit long
resource names."

I have 90 resources on the Resource Pool which I need to
add to each task. How can I proceed further creating an
Administrative Project??
Any help greatly appreciated??

David

You need to break the plan up into multiple plans.

How can I break the plan into multiple plans as I have the
same tasks which have to be assigned to all the resources?
Is there any other method?
Anyone else faced similar problems with administrative
project?

David.

To piggyback on what Gary Chefetz recommended, you might establish an
indvidual administrative plan for each team, such as the DBA team, the
Network team, etc.. You could include the same administrative tasks for
each team, but you might also include tasks that are unique for each team,
as well. Breaking your administrative project into several projects would
make the resource assignment process a lot less cumbersome for you. Hope
this additional thought helps.

Thanks a lot for you help. I used the Assign Resources to
assign all the resources to the individual tasks, it
worked. I could add all the 90 resources to the task.
When I had initially used the combo box to add all the
resources it resulted in error "Resource list is too long".
Very strange behaviour, but I have no explanation.

David.
