Administrative Time in OLAP Cube 2007

R

Robert

Hello,
In which of the 14 OLAP Cubes can we find the Administrative time entered by
resources ?
Thanks

This information is a bit elusive, as you have already discovered! :)

To create your Data Analysis view, select the Timesheet cube and add the
Timesheet Class dimension to the Row Fields drop area. Add the Timesheet
Period dimension to the Column Fields drop area. Add the Planned Work and
Actual Work Billable dimensions (and Actual Work Non-Billable dimension, as
needed) to the Total Fields drop area.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot Dale!
Very interesting !
Just one more question:
The Timesheet Periods on the Column Fields drop area are sorted by a strange
order (week 5 comes after week 49)
Is it possible to sort the Timesheet Periodes by week#?

Thanks again

This is going to drive you crazy. The information in the Timesheet Periods
column headers is a text string. The sorting an alphanumerical sort in
ascending order. On mine, for example, I see the following columns:

W14 07
W26 07
W3 07
W5 07

The above list does show a correct alphanumeric sort, but it is not correct
datewise. I'm not sure there is any way around this problem, short of
dragging the columns into the correct date order. This is technically not a
bug, but it sure is design oversight if I've ever seen one. Hope this
helps.

It helps if you name your timesheet periods to match the alphabetic
sort e.g. 08-01,08-02, 08-03, etc

Mike,
Could you tell me how you add the 0 before the 1, the 2 the 3... in the
series :
08-01,08-02, 08-03
or do you create the Timesheet Periods one by one ?

Thanks in advance

Determine your naming convention (prefix e.g. 2007 = 07-; 2008 = 08-;
etc), build 1 year at a time, then edit period label for first 9
periods of each year (insert a zero) to make text consistent.

Dale, Mike, and Robert,

Thank you VERY much for this string! I have been bashing my head
against the cubicle wall trying to figure out where to find our
"Admin" time in the cubes. I read your notes, the clouds parted, and
the rays of enlightenment streamed down upon me. Are any of you guys
running for political office? 'Cause you got my vote! :)

I have asked this question in another thread, and will re-ask it here:
Has anyone run across documentation of the fields included in each of
the OLAP cubes? This hunting for the right field, or hoping to get
lucky and find a post like this one, is going to kill me...

Thanks!

Astro Boy --

Do you have our "Implementing and Administering Microsoft Office Project
Server 2007" book? If so, in the intro section of the book there are
directions to download the sample files that accompany the book. There are
two Excel workbooks in the download. One of the Excel workbooks documents
all of the Dimensions and Total Fields in every OLAP cube. The second
workbook is the OLAP Cube Search tool that allows you to select an OLAP cube
and immediately see all Dimensions and Total Fields in that cube, or to
select a Total Field or Dimension and to see which OLAP cubes contain it.
If you don't have the book, I think you will find it a valuable resource.
You can purchase it at:

Hope this helps.
