Administrative Time, timesheets and reporting

Hi

I think we're going down the right road here but we've decided to use
Administrative Time to manage non project work. There seem to be good and
bad points about using Administrative Time, Administrative
Projects/Proposals/Activities etc. to manage this non-project time.

The problem I have is when a user completes a time sheet containing time on
Administrative Time tasks how can I report on how much time is spent on what.
There will be many Administrative Time categories and we would like to run
reports to find out how much time is spent doing what irrespective of whether
the time is spent on project or non-project work.

I've looked at the cubes and tried creating Data Analysis views but I can't
seem to find the Administrative Time. Project time is easy to find.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andrew,

Firstly there are 3 cubes that you may want to have a look at. They are called
- Timesheet ( you will find the classifications in this cube)
- MSP Project Timesheet
- EPM Timesheet

I am pretty sure that you will find 99% of what you require in these cubes.

Also, Project Server includes a Reporting DB. If you have Reporting Services
Experience, you will be able to create some really good reports. Have a look
at the Project Server 2007 SDK. It contains of example reports that you will
find most interesting.

I hope this helps

Thanks Marc

The cubes you mentioned have all the data we need. The difference in
terminology threw me. I was looking for something like 'Billing Category'
which is the title of the column in the timesheet when 'Timesheet Class' held
the data. I'll use reporting services to rendering this data in SharePoint.

I think I need to spend some time familiarising myself with the databases
and cubes.

Regards

Andy
