Administrative Updates?

I want to deploy Office updates at the time of the Office deployment by
placing them in the Updates folder on the network installation point.
However, I am not sure where to find/download the actual update (.msp) files.
Documentation and Office web site refer to administrative version of the
updates that should be available on the ORK web site but I couldn't find
those.

I know I can download updates from the Microsoft Download site and extract
..msp from there but it is specifically stated in the ORK that "It is
recommended that you do not extract and run the .MSP files from product patch
..exe files"

Can someone please clarify?

I for one can verify that I have customers extract the .msp files from the
executables every single day.

I'm not really sure why you that is not advised.

Can you give an exact link where you read that?
I would like to examine that statement.

Sorry, I thought the link in my original message would take you there. Here
is the link (It is the 'Distribute product updates for the 2007 Office
system' in the 2007 ORK):

Basically it says that the package 'contains detection logic' to apply only
the patches that are needed and also to ensure all required MSPs are applied.
