Is there a way to use User Defined Function as a source of a single control
on a form, which is independent of form recordsource?

I am having trouble assigning default values to filelds: can not figure out
which events to use to achieve desired behaviour: wrong or no values are
assigned.

UDF can be made part of form recordsource however will not update until a
record is inserted, so it's of little use for default values.

If it were possible to have a UDF update a control on a form, independent of
form recordsource, this would be the ideal solution.

Any suggestions?
