Advanced problem: new username still exists as old username

Running: Exchange 2000 SP2 and Outlook 2000 Dutch version SP3

We have changed a username in the Active Directory from 'old name' to 'new
name', exported the complete mailbox to a *.pst file and deleted the mailbox
in the AD, we have runned the clean up agent and purged the mailbox from the
Mailbox Store on the Exchange 2000 server. Then the next day we created a
brand new exchange mail account with the alias 'new' and as expected a new
mailbox is created on the Exchange 2000 server. This user is member of a
Global Security Group called 'reception' with a mail address
'(e-mail address removed)'.

Problem: Using the Calendar trying to make an appointment with the
Distribution Group 'reception' ends in an undeliverable mail from the system
manager for the person 'old name'. When I look at the members of this group
the old name is not listed and when I look at the calendar of this 'new
name' user the appointment is received and listed in the calendar of her
Outlook.

We have dropped the complete 'reception' group, dropped the 'new name'
account, replicated the NTDS in the AD, created a new account with the same
'new name', created a new 'reception group' with the same name but the 'old
name' message still returns after making appointments with the 'reception
group'. This doesn't appear when you open the 'reception group' with the
'+', all the members are visible and their is no 'old name' and no system
manager message returns.

Is this a bug in Outlook, Exchange or Windows 2000 ?
