advantages of visual aids and technology in powerpoint presentatio

P

puzzled

Can technology and visual aids be more of a distraction than a helpful
component to a presentation? How could it change to be more effective?

Probably a bit controversial here! I've read lots of research (especially Dr
Richard Mayer) that claims delete all technology not directly needed - less
is more! This is only a minor part of his work but its often quoted.

For me the experts are TV advertising people. Ask yourself then:

Do they use lots of fairly gimmicky technology to make the message stick?

(You might also ask how often they use bullet points!!)
