advise how to read Outlook .idx & .mbx files

I

Ivor927

Problems arise from use of legacy programs & data copied across from two
earlier generations of computer which used, in succession DOS6, Win3.1,
Milenium on my current XP home. Further complications arose when a memory
failure caused a crash, wiping out my outlook email records.

Having now gone for a USB external hard drive, I'm trying to safely
rationalise links by sending into it before deleting the old directory trees
& then replacing via C:\programs.

Any positive comments would be welcomed.
