After 5 years, why do I have to search for Times font?

Sarah

I have only used Times and Arial for the last several years. Yet when
I go to select a font, I have to search in a long annoying menu among
a million fonts I don't use.

Why can't Microsoft software be smarter than that?

Why don't you set the Times font as your default font in whatever Microsoft
program you are complaining about. Delete all of the other "millions" of
fonts you don't use and leave just Times and Arial (along with the required
system fonts) on your system. It will make "searching" for your fonts
easier.

Searching? Smarter? The system will jump to the first item starting with
the letter you select. Since Times starts with "T", press "T", And since
Arial starts with "A" you press "A".

Wow. Years and I've been futzing with the stupid font window and all I
had to do was type ar and ti.

I wish I could take a week or two off to read all the Word
documentation. Is that how you guys did it?

Needless to say, thanks.

Oh no, I'm going to have to ask a really stupid question. How do you
delete fonts? I looked in Word....probably it's as easy as typing a
letter to get a font....

You're welcome, as to Word documentation, that "feature" is used
throughout Windows operating systems and applications, sometimes
referred to as "keyboard navigation". It works in pretty much any "pull
down", "dialog box" or "menu" you find. For instance next time you go to
open a file, just "tab into" or click in the file listing area and press
the key for the first letter of the file name or folder you want to get
or go to.
