After importing PST file, why am I getting message "invalid path".

I am using XP Pro w/ Office 2003. I had Outlook 2000 on my desktop, exported
my entire personal folder to a PST, stored it on a flash drive, then imported
that file onto my laptop's Outlook 2003. It seemed to go smoothly and I
think all my data transferred successfully, but after rebooting and trying to
restart Outlook, it keeps prompting me that "the path is invalid" to my
original PST file (which is of course on the flash drive no longer connected
now). If it imported everything, why is it still looking for that original
file? Did I do something incorrectly?

Because you didn't close that .pst file in the folder list after exporting
to it. If you reattach the flash drive so Outlook can see that file again,
you should be able to go to the folder list and close it.

Thank you, I appreciate your quick reply. In the meantime, in
"experimenting" with trying to get around this error prompt, I clicked OK to
something, and it has placed a small PST file in My Docs (my original PST is
a very large file). Now it's not prompting me for anything. What happened,
and is it all OK now or do I need to change something?

I have no idea. You never said where your primary laptop .pst file is
located, so we can only guess the purpose of the one in My DOcuments.

Tip for next time: Just copy the entire .pst file. Export/import runs the
risk of losing customizations and links between items.
