After installing Win98 onto reformatted Hard Drive, Office 97 won't install

Could someone help me to get the Office 97 program to
install. I gave my friend my old pc to use. I reformatted
the Hard Drive. Installed Windows 98 OK, but when I try
to install Office 97 it tells me that it can't find
anything to relate to Office 97, and it also tells me it
is an upgrade not a full version, but it is a full
version, an authentic Microsoft Office 97 Professional
Edition disk ?? How do I get it install and run the
Office programs. I have rung Microsoft Technical Support
in Sydney 3 times since Thursday and they keep telling me
they don't give support for such an old program. They
have told me to look up the information on the Microsoft
webpages etc. I have looked for information and help for
this problem over several hours since Friday 16th
January.. Saturday and Sunday and today. And finally
decided to ask the Newsgroups for help. Please advise as
soon as possible. Thanks Suzee :)

It sounds like Microsoft is correct and that you have an Upgrade version
Office 97 disk and it is looking for a qualifying product. Use the CD for
which you used to install Office 97 Upgrade before. If you no longer have
the upgrade qualifying product, your license to use the Office 97 Upgrade
disk is invalid.
