Hi - I've been using Word 2004 since, well 2004. Whenever I launch Word I get an alert message about "Visual Basic for Applications". I can easily dismiss this message and get to work but it dawned on me that there might be a way to eliminate this annoyance altogether.

Is there a setting that will either activate Visual Basic for Applications or disable this alert message?

TIA your experienced reply.

On the Mac, that message is normally an indication that you have a virus or
some other piece of malware getting up to no good.

Visual Basic for Applications is the automation part of Office 2004. You
can't disable it without disabling bits of your user interface, which it
produces, and it is already enabled, or you would not get the message.

I suspect that something has dropped a virus/worm/whatever into your Normal
template. If you want to know for sure, run a commercial-grade Virus
Scanner.

If you delete your Normal template (and empty the trash) there's a 50 per
cent chance that it will go away. The other 50 per cent chance is that the
badware is in one of your attached templates.

Hope this helps
