All HTML comment tags causing <!> error

FP2000

FP has been working fine for years... this morning I opened it up
and every single HTML comment tag now displays the yellow/blue
HTML error flag in Normal view. This happens on existing sites
that were just fine a day ago, and any new sites/pages that I create
today. Everything looks fine in preview or in a browser, since these
are just comments!

What gives ?

Jimmy you really ought to say what you did for "pronlem solved." Then when we run across someone with a similar problem we may have some idea how to help.

Operator error :)

Actually, the problem was that "hidden symbols" (paragraph marks) were
turned on. When you have them on, all HTML comments show as I
described previously. They are not so much "errors" I guess as markers
for the comments.
