Hi,
It appears to be a file corruption thing.
Do you have any backedup copies of the file you can check?
Are the fonts used in the document initially also available on the machine
you are now opening it on (if they are different)

In Word, click on File | Open. If "Files of type" is set to "Recover text
from any file", change it to "All files" or "All Word documents", then select
your Word file and click on Open.
