All New Word Documents are showing [compatibility mode] by default

hello all -

Recently I have noticed that any new (blank) document I open in Word shows up as Document 1 [compatibility mode]. When I save it, it defaults to .docx, so it's not that much of a problem, but I want the [compatibility mode] notification to go away.

Any advice?

This would almost certainly be a problem with the Normal.dotm template.
You'll find info on replacing it here:

Just make sure Word is not running when you follow the directions.
