All of my Contacts in Outlook 2003 w/BCM have dissappeared.

All of my contacts in BCM hav dissappeared. Have tried every suggested option
to recover them, but they are not to be found anywhere in Outlook. Whjat
happened and how can I prevent this from happening again?
