All office 2007 applications crash on start, even safe mode

I have Office 2007 Pro installed on a PC with Win XP Pro SP2, 3 GHz Pentium
4, 2.5 GB RAM, office SP 1, and all office applications crash on start, even
when trying to start them in safe mode. Detect and Repair doesn't help,
office diagnostics does not find any problems. Reinstalling doesn't help,
re-applying Off sp1 doesn't help. I know the install discs are fine, they
work on other PCs. The error message is always,

"Microsoft Office Word {Excel, PowerPoint, etc} has encountered a problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. "

Looking at the data in the error report:
AppName: winword.exe AppVer: 12.0.6211.1000 AppStamp:46d4a7df
ModName: mso.dll ModVer: 12.0.6213.1000 ModStamp:46eafebf
fDebug: 0 Offset: 000aa986

I've noticed the "ModName" is always "mso.dll" and the "offset" os always
"000aa986"

Any ideas?

Application Safe Mode, but your question prompted me to see what would happen
while running Windows itself in Safe Mode. While running Windows in Safe
Mode. Office 2007 Applications did start properly, so that does seem like a
clue.

I have the latest available video driver, my printer has been working fine
with other programs, but I did go ahead and uninstall/reinstall it, and I've
tried disabling my AV program. Unfortunately, there's no change.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

I have been accessing this newsgroup using Internet Explorer. Some days
ago, it stopped working properly, and I cannot now reply to messages.
Seeing so many comments from others against the web-based reader, I
installed Windows Mail to access this newsgroup to see if I could use that
to reply to Beth's latest question. In Windows Mail, I can access this
newsgroup, but I can only see my original post, and no other responses. So
I am now responding to my original post just to see if I can even see that.

As for the problem, it's still occurring, and the applications do work fine
when Windows is running in Safe Mode. (pre my 4/11 response the first time
Beth asked.)

So now I have a new issue...Windows Mail does not see any of the responses
to my original post, other than my own response I just posted....If anyone
is able to help, please send e-mail to me at (e-mail address removed) since the
newsgroup route doesn't seem to work.
