Testing in a new User will quickly tell you if the problem is system wide or
if it¹s your User¹s folder that contains the problem.

Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the
New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Test Office there.

Let us know what you find.

PMFJI, but what you're describing could simply be a font issue. Have you
restarted your Mac recently? If not, Shut Down, wait a few minutes, then
Start Up & see if there's any improvement.

Assuming the problem will persist, run Apple's Font Book app to Verify Fonts
as well as Resolve Duplicates. Restart again & see what happens before going
on to more drastic corrective measures.

As Bob indicated, check your fonts.

Since it's system wide, I would download and install the latest Apple combo.

The Apple combo updater refreshes old files so I suggest downloading the
combo rather than use Software Updater to download the incremental updater.
Combo updaters will install on the same version as they're applying--no need
to roll back or do a clean install.

I run the Apple Font App. Nothing happened. Then I downloaded the Apple Combo and it seems that the problem is solved.

Thank you all for helping . Getting back to work.

I too am having issues with office being slow. I did as advised and created the new user profile, and that profile works like it should. What is my next step to fix my profile

See these two specific links:

There are many thing that can cause slowdowns so be sure to search this page
for more if the above does not help:

Hope this helps!

After looking at the links, I am just as confused as before. What is suitcase
and how do I disable it?

Suitcase is a third party application that you would have installed. I'm
guessing you don't have it since you don't know what it is.

Sounds like you need to get some help with your Mac if the other suggestions
are out of your comfort zone.
