all text severely overlapping

I tried to get online help, but for some reason it will
not take my ID number. I am getting very frustrated now,
because all my saved programs in mircosoft works word 6.0
have the text tiny, and overlapping. I try new
document...same thing. Font size says one thing, but when
I type anything out it looks smushed together. all my work
is mashed in the middle of the page, and I tried
everything to get it out of that. Nothing works. I have
tired reinstalling the program with out uninstalling it
(it cam with the computer) nothing works there either.
can someone help me??

Hi, carrie. What happens if you select the whole document (press Ctrl+A) and change the font to something else (e.g., if it's Times New Roman, change it to Arial or something)? If the text looks okay in a different font, then it could be that the original font is corrupted, and you can reinstall it from the Works or Windows CD. If the text is still messed up, then try selecting another printer as the default printer in Windows... does this fix the problem? If so, then delete and reinstall the printer driver for your normal printer in Start | Control Panel | Printers.

Carrie, I've seen this before. Select all your text and
click on Format > Paragraph and check to make sure your
line spacing is Single. Sometimes its set to "Exactly 5
or 6 points" and it comes up looking smushed together like
that. Hope this is it.
