allocating resources between projects

Frank

hello again,

i am trying to allocate my resources - but i have 8
projects on wich most of them are booked and there on
individual tasks - no i would like to allocate them on the
projects in terms of percentage of time they are sceduled
to spend there - thus i would like to say 30% of
resource "A" on Project "1" and 20% of the same
resource "A" on project "2" ...

in thouse projects i want the project manager to then book
the resource "A" on specific tasks but only inside the to
the project assigned percentage.

how can i do that?

can anyone help

thanks

Frank

When you assign resources to tasks in any of the projects, set the Units
value for each assignment to the desired percentage for that project. You
can set the Units value in the Assign Resources dialog or in the Task Form
portion of the Task Entry view (click Window - Split to apply this view).
Hope this helps.

Hey Dale,

thanks for your answer - but i think i might not have
expressed me verry clearly in my question - i know that
you can assign percentage to resources per each task - but
as i said i would like to do this for the projects...

thus say resource "Frank" is working on 3 different
projects - he works on the projects "Project Server
Implementation" on "customer management" and on "hosting
the internal server". Lets say he is supposed to spend 40%
on the first and second project and only 20% on the third.
i would now want to attach that percentage per project to
the projects - in a way that the individual project
manager can only assign the resource inside the resources
percentage (40% or 20%) onto the taswk in this project...

is there a way to do so???

thanks

Frank

Sorry, but the Units value must be set on each resource assignment
individually. You cannot assign a resource to a project as a whole using
the Units value. Sorry for the bad news.
