Allow 2 users to work on same document in parallel?

Hi All,

not sure if this is the correct place for this post,
but here goes:

I was wondering if there was any to allow 2 or more users
to work on a Visio drawing in real-time (EX: Changes made
by user#1 can be seen instantaneously on the screen of
user#2.)

Our organization's engineering dept. has different users
completing different tasks within the same drawing, thus
user#2 can't start his/her work until user#1 completes
his/her work. Productivity would be greatly increased by
allowing multiple users to work on the same document at
the same time.

There are other Java/XML based programs which we use that
allow this (EX: Tridium's Niagara).

If no such capabilities currently exist within Visio, I
may be charged with creating some kind of interface to
allow this.

Any suggestions e-mailed to me are greatly appreciated.

Thanks-in-advance.

I don't know of any way to have multiple users work on the same document
simultaneously. Normally, Visio will tell you that the drawing is already
open, and "would you like to open a copy..."

There's probably a better answer, but I was able to do this using
NetMeeting/MSN Chat. Go to: Actions > Start Application Sharing. There may
be a limitation where one user at a time is the "driver", however. I can't
remember.

I think GoToMyPC also handles application sharing, or perhaps it is only for
live demos over the internet. I can't exactly remember.

Then there's Remote Desktop Connection (formerly "Windows Terminal
Server"???) Go to: Start > Programs > Accessories > Communications. Again,
I'm not sure if you can get simultaneous editing to happen...

Hope this helps,
