Allow Firefox to search for Microsoft Office updates

D

Daren42

I use Microsoft Office 2003 and Mozilla Firefox for my web browser. When I
try to search for updates to Office products from within the Help menu of the
program, I am presented with an error message telling me I can't look for
updates without Microsoft Internet Explorer. I prefer Firefox and should not
be coerced like this into using a different web browser to my choice to
legitimately search for updates to a Microsoft program that I paid money for.

I would like Microsoft to respect my consumer choices for other products and
allow me to update the Microsoft programs I paid for using Firefox, an
increasingly popular browser.

Hi Daren,

You can still download individual updates from http://office.microsoft.com/downloads The autoupdate checker uses ActiveX controls,
which Firefox can use with an add-in.
