I'm using outlook 2003. I wish that oulook would allow me to decide whether
I want to risk opening an email attachment (particularly .exe). I have a
trusted relative that sends my kids animated greetings (.exe files)
occasionally. Since I upgraded to 2003 I have been unable to view them. the
suggested 'fix' in help, to use an ftp server to exchange the file, is
useless since neither of us has access to a trusted ftp server. I realize
that some .exe files may contain viruses, that is why I keep my anti-virus
software upto date. I would like to be able to decide on a case by case
basis to open 'risky' attachments. I do not agree with microsoft's assertion
that the bennifit of blocking possible virus proliferation out ways the loss
of functionality, useability, and or convience of sharing executable files.
