Allowing customers to View Projects

B

I would like to set up and account that would allow customers to view only
the projects that I would like them to see.

My book says I would use executive group for this, but I'm not sure how to
limit it so they can only see a few or possibly one project when 30 or 40
projects are going on.

Thanks

Ben

If you go to PWA Admin>Manage security>Categories and highlight My Projects
as an example and hit the Modify Group you will see a section that looks
like the one below. Set the security to look like that.

Projects: Select the projects that users in this category can view
All current and future projects in Project Server database
Only the projects indicated below:
Allow users in this category to view all projects they manage.
Allow users in this category to view all projects in which they are
a team member.
Allow users in this category to view all projects managed by
resources that they manage
Allow users in this category to view all projects assigned to
resources that they manage

Any group of user that is associated to this Category will be able to see
only projects they manage or are team members of. You can use these same
rules in other categories to get the desired dynamic views of projects for
users.

The most straightforward way to do exactly what you ask is to set up a new
Group and a new Category. Call them both Customer for simplicity.

Set the global permissions for the Customer group, perhaps by using the
Executive template.

Set up the Customer category so that it includes the project views you want
the customer to see. Then select the projects to include:

Projects: Select the projects that users in this category can view
Only the projects indicated below:

(Move the specific project from the left box to the right box.)
